Shoden, or 1st Degree Reiki Training is all about self practice – knowing yourself as a spiritual being.
What is Reiki?
REI (ray) means something mysterious, miraculous and sacred. KI (key) means the atmosphere, or something subtle, or the energy of the Universe – the cosmos. The Japanese word “Reiki” can be defined as a miraculous and sacred energy of the Universe, which sustains all life.
We know “ki” most commonly here in the west from the Chinese word “chi,” for life force. In Japan it is “ki,” in India, “prana.” A Reiki session is a blissful way to have your balance restored and to come back to center. As a regular, daily meditation, Reiki can add a whole new dimension to your personal experience.
In this 2 Day training course, you will undergo a transformation in your understanding and perception of who you are, and what you are doing here. It is an intense two days filled with interaction and meditation. You will learn a basic knowledge of Reiki history, learn tools of Reiki Ryoho (hands-on healing art) for self-healing, and a meditation practice for you to use each day.
The first level opens the doors to the awareness of ourselves as an energy being. Here we take responsibility for our own healing. Students will go through a transformation – of physical, emotional, and spiritual awareness. This allows the evolution of the ego and the mind so that the student can ‘move themselves aside’ and allow Reiki to flow. The journey begins as we see ourselves as spiritual beings, practicing seeing our inner light and exploring ways to share it with the world at large. By learning the tools for Reiki meditation and healing, and committing to daily practice, a first-degree student will gain success and change. For 21 days after this 2-day training, students will receive an email containing reminders of the daily meditation practice and notes of encouragement to help them through the first part of the journey.
This training is completed over two full days, from 10 am – 4 pm.

It is our philosophy that Reiki self practice is the key foundation to continuing on to further training. All of our classes are followed by 21 days of emails that assist in solidifying the training. With teacher certification in 4 strains of Reiki, Robert & Lorie Saito of The Dojo have developed their own system that focuses on living our human life in a spiritual way.
Our mission is to create accessible and safe meditation studio environments, that educate and guide clients into a consistent practice. Our teacher trainings provide a transformational experience, through a balanced approach of education and spirituality, preparing teachers to share meditation with the world.
